The St Austell team of health visitors provides health visiting for all those patients registered at Polkyth Surgery and living within St Austell. The Clay team of health visitors based at Roche cover all those living in the clay villages and, similarly, St Blazey and Par are covered by two health visitors based in Par.
The health visiting service can provide information, advice and support to families, particularly in the area of promotion of health and prevention of ill health. Health visitors work with all age groups, but primarily with the under fives, expectant mothers, the disabled and the elderly. Help is also available for urine incontinence (children and adults) bowel problems, sleep and behavioral problems in children and those interested in smoking cessation.

There is an open clinic at Polkyth Surgery on Tuesdays 1.00pm – 4.00pm (no appointment necessary). A health visitor will be available and can advise on breast feeding, weaning, new mums’ groups, playgroups and any public health concern |
