Essential Services
These cover the:
- management of patients who are ill or believe themselves to be ill, with conditions from which recovery is generally expected, for the duration of that condition, including relevant health promotion advice and referral as appropriate, reflecting patient choice wherever practicable
- general management of patients who are terminally ill
- management of chronic disease in the manner determined by the practice, in discussion with the patient
- continuous holistic treatment and care for all registered patients

- vaccinations and immunisations (non-childhood)
- childhood vaccinations and immunisations
- child health surveillance
- maternity services - excluding intra-partum care
- advanced access to general medical services
Enhanced Services
These cover:
Anti-coagulation monitoring (anti-blood clotting) - IUD contraceptive fittings

- Maternity Services - shared care with the midwife
- Immunisation - childhood/adult, routine and travel
- Child Development Clinics
- Women's Health - advice on the menopause and HRT
- Health Promotion - blood pressure, diet advice, alcohol and smoking advice
- 24 hour blood pressure monitoring
- 24 hour ECG monitoring
NON-NHS SERVICES
Medical examinations and certificates for certain items are not covered by the NHS and attract a special fee. These include driving (HGV, PSV, elderly), sports medicals. Life assurance and employment examinations, insurance claims, private sick notes, holiday cancellation forms, fitness to travel certificates, private prescriptions, passport signing etc.
Please note that private medical examinations cannot be performed in normal surgery times and you will need to ring the doctor concerned for an appointment.
